California High Speed Rail Construction
Fresno, California
Description
Construction is underway on the first high-speed rail system in the nation. With speeds capable of over 200 miles per hour, the trip between San Francisco and Los Angeles will take about 3 hours. Construction on this leg will be completed by 2029. Smith-Emery is providing geotechnical, soils, concrete and steel testing services for the California High Speed Rail project’s Construction Packages 2-3, which have about 36 grade separations in Fresno, Tulare and Kings counties, and include viaducts, underpasses and overpasses on the 60+ miles in the packages. We are also responsible for testing and inspecting the concrete mix design and fabrication for the project’s plant, which is expected to fabricate around 1,300 different kinds of beams and almost half a million precast slabs.
